MISSION
Our mission is to dedicate time to raise the voice of those who are unheard by telling their stories in an audiovisual way. We are committed to continue working in our craft for the benefit of those who have been largely ignored.

Francis Mateo

Bachelor in English Literature from Hunter College (CUNY), an MFA in acting from Brooklyn College.
Francis’ poetry and short stories have been published in different magazines in Argentina, Germany, and Dominican Republic.
Francis performed with the band La Sovietika poems from his first book of poetry, “Ubre Urbe” Francis' second book is out now, El Alto published by Ediciones Cielonaranja.
Francis has acted in off-Broadway and off-off Broadway productions with the Public Theater (Shakespeare in the Park’s Mother Courage starring Meryl Streep) Classical Theater of Harlem (Starring Andre DeShields, Shakespeare Forum, Mabou Mines, APAC, Otro Teatro NY, Repertorio Español. Film works with directors such as Melvin Van Peebles, and Spike Lee.

Carla Franchesca

Carla is an award-winner documentary filmmaker from the Dominican Republic who lives in New York City.
As soon as she came to the United States, she continued her education at CUNY's Borough of Manhattan Community College (BMCC) enrolling in the Video Arts & Technology program, to follow her longtime passion for film and television production. At BMCC, she got a better understanding of the documentary genre. She also became the leader of the Society of Motion Picture and Television Engineers (SMPTE) Student Chapter, which served as an educational and networking platform.
Carla has done volunteering work for important events such as the NYC Havana Film Festival, Colombian Film Festival in New York, Food Film Fest and the 54 New York Film Festival, where she was able to network and gain relevant skills for her future career.
In 2016, she produced award-winning documentary Buhoneros (Street Vendors), a film about the many issues that street vendors face in New York City in terms of licensing.
In 2017, Carla was accepted into the BFA in Film and Video program at CUNY's The City College of New York. She belongs to the first group ever to graduate from the Documentary Track, and a minor in Cinema Studies, with the highest Latino honor Summa Cum Laude. Her thesis film "Layers of a Baker" (Panadero) has been awarded as "Best Short Documentary" at the Festival Internacional de Santo Domingo Mujeres en Corto (FEMUJER) 2020.
Carla currently holds a position as a production facilitator at MNN El Barrio Firehouse Community Media Center, the public access television in Manhattan, where she continues working with the community.
Carla es una galardonada documentalista de la República Dominicana que vive en la ciudad de Nueva York.
Tan pronto como llegó a los Estados Unidos, continuó su educación en el Borough of Manhattan Community College (BMCC) de CUNY inscribiéndose en el programa de Video Arte y Tecnología, para seguir su larga pasión por la producción de cine y televisión. En BMCC, obtuvo una mejor comprensión del género documental. También se convirtió en la líder del capítulo estudiantil de la Sociedad de Ingenieros de Cine y Televisión (SMPTE), que sirvió como una plataforma educativa y de interconexión profesional.
Carla ha realizado trabajos de voluntariado en importantes eventos como el el NYC Havana Film Festival, Colombian Film Festival in New York, Food Film Fest y el New York Film Festival, donde pudo establecer contactos y adquirir conocimientos relevantes para su futura carrera.
En 2016, produjo el premiado documental Buhoneros (Vendedores ambulantes), una película sobre los numerosos problemas que afrontan los vendedores ambulantes en la ciudad de Nueva York en relación con la concesión de licencias.
En 2017, Carla fue aceptada en el programa de BFA en Cine y Video en el City College de Nueva York de CUNY. Pertenece al primer grupo que se graduó en realización de Documentales, y una especialización en Estudios Cinematográficos, con el más alto honor latino, Summa Cum Laude. Su tesis cinematográfica "Layers of a Baker" (Panadero) fue premiada como "Mejor Corto Documental" en el Festival Internacional de Santo Domingo Mujeres en Corto (FEMUJER) 2020.
Actualmente, Carla ocupa un puesto como facilitadora de producción en MNN El Barrio Firehouse Community Media Center, la televisión de acceso público de Manhattan, donde sigue trabajando con la comunidad.
Jose R Ponce

Jose Ponce was born in Puebla, Mexico. He and his family moved to NYC when he was 11 years old. He began his professional education at CUNY's Borough of Manhattan Community College (BMCC) enrolling in the Video Arts & Technology program, to follow his passion for film and television production.
Jose had the opportunity to follow and film two major social movements: Black Lives Matter and The 43 students from Ayotzinapa. Jose filmed the Black Lives Matter movement in NYC and Baltimore, where he was able to be up close with the family members of those who lost their life due to police brutality. During the time that he was following the 43 students from Ayotzinapa movement, Jose was able to travel across the country with the parents of the missing students. Jose did not only worked on filming the parents across the USA, but he also collaborated for the movement by creating press release forms. Due to his involvement with this movement, Jose, his team, and the parents were appointed to represent the indigenous people in the United Nations.
Later on, Jose became senior producer for Manhattan Neighborhood Network’s Youth Media Center, where he continued his work teaching young adults how to create content about social justice, paying attention to the issues that mainly affect the people of color communities.
In 2017, Jose was accepted in the Film and Video BFA program at CUNY's The City College of New York where he majored in documentary filmmaking with a minor in journalism.
José Ponce nació en Puebla, México. Él y su familia se mudaron a la ciudad de Nueva York cuando tenía 11 años. Comenzó su educación profesional en el Borough of Manhattan Community College (BMCC) de CUNY inscribiéndose en el programa de Video Arte y Tecnología, para seguir su pasión por la producción de cine y televisión.
José tuvo la oportunidad de seguir y filmar dos importantes movimientos sociales: Black Lives Matter y Los 43 estudiantes de Ayotzinapa. José filmó el movimiento Black Lives Matter en Nueva York y Baltimore, donde pudo estar cerca de los familiares de los que perdieron la vida debido a la brutalidad policial. Durante el tiempo que siguió a los 43 estudiantes del movimiento de Ayotzinapa, José pudo viajar por todo el país con los padres de los estudiantes desaparecidos. José no sólo trabajó en la filmación de los padres a través de los EE.UU., sino que también colaboró para el movimiento mediante la creación de formularios de comunicado de prensa. Debido a su participación en este movimiento, José, su equipo y los padres fueron designados para representar a los indígenas en las Naciones Unidas.
Más tarde, José se convirtió en productor principal del Centro de Medios de Comunicación para Jóvenes de la Red de Vecindarios de Manhattan, donde continuó su trabajo enseñando a los jóvenes adultos cómo crear contenidos sobre justicia social, prestando atención a los temas que afectan principalmente a la gente de las comunidades de color.
En 2017, José fue aceptado en el programa de BFA de cine y video en el City College de Nueva York de CUNY, donde se graduó en la realización de documentales con una especialización en periodismo.
